1.) Jewellery Manufacturing I - Basic Techniques |

Aim: The Basic Techniques
certificate course aims to teach the student the very basics of jewellery making. What to do in order to manipulate metal
e.g. Annealing principals. Making a ring to a specified size. The fundamentals of Soldering. Standard finishing routine
e.g. Filing, sanding and polishing. Safety in the workshop. Proper use of tools and equipment. |

Prerequisites: There are no previous educational requirements for
entry into the course. |

2.) Jewellery
Manufacturing II - Intermediate Techniques
|
|
Aim: To teach the student a variety of intermediate construction techniques in jewellery making. More basic forming techniques are covered as well as beginner casting. Jewellery Design and Drawing is also taught*. Cold joining techniques, some decorative wirework and surface texturing are also introduced.
*Note: This course does not teach the student “how to draw”. The student
can take a basic art drawing and sketching class at their local art
studio. |

Prerequisites: The student must already have successfully
completed Jewellery Techniques I - Basic Techniques. Admission to
the course remains the prerogative of the facilitator. The student will
be asked to submit finished pieces (excluding those made during
Jewellery Techniques I - Basic Techniques) for evaluation. |
